First of all thanks to UIQblog because the source of this tutorial is based on a tutorial published by them here: http://www.uiqblog.com/2008/03/27/access-uiq3-private-folderseven-on-c-drive/ but i’m going to explain you in a different and detailed way.

Follow the next steps to remove the protection on C and Z files and folders and do anything you want:

  1. You need to have PC suite for Smartphones installed on your PC, if you don’t have it download here: Sony Ericsson PC Suite for Smartphones
  2. Download the next compressed filt that contains the applications that you need to do the next steps (PC Suite isn’t included here): Unlock UIQ Pack
  3. Install the applications on the folder installOnPC on your PC ( XD ) in the next order:
    - python-2.5.1
    - win32-py2.5
    - pyserial-2.2.win32
  4. Copy the file 1.py into your C drive, like this:
    fileonCdrive
  5. Open PC Suite and connect your phone in Phone mode via USB and go to My Computer, right click and click on Properties or attributes, then click on Hardware and press the button named Device manager. Appears a window like this, where you have to check where it says “Ports” and look for a port named Sony Ericsson XXX application port (Port #) where XXX is the model of your phone and # is the Port number. Remember your port number because you will use in the next step. (Click on image to enlarge it)
    ports
  6. Disconnect your phone. Now you are going to use the port number. Open the file 1.py that you copied into C drive with notepad, then press Ctrl+B to search for a word in the file, write “ser” and click on the button “Search” until you find a line in the file like this:
    serLine
You have to edit that line, exactly in the part where it says “.Serial(4)”, if the port number of your PC (the port that i tell us to remember in the previous step) is 5 then you don’t have to edit, but if your port number is 7 then you have to delete “4″ and write 6, or if your port number is 3 then you have to delete “4″ and write 2, you write the number of your port minus 1.
  7. Now pass the folder installOnPhone to your phone ( XDDD ) but for now only install AppTRK.sis, CapsSwitch_v1.03.sis will be installed later.
  8. Connect your phone via USB in Phone mode.
  9. Open App TRK after install it and it will show something like this:
Welcome to TRK for UIQ 3.0
    Status: Connected
    PDD: NONE
    LDD: EUSBC….
If appears something that says Not connected then go to the menu, then Settings and where says “Port” if the port number is “2″ then change to “1″ or viceversa.
  10. Go to your C drive and double click to 1.py to execute it. When you do this it will appear a console window (a black window). When it closes, it’s done!! UIQ protected files are now accesible.
  11. The last step. This is because when you restart your phone (off/on) the access dissapears, so we have to install the applicaction CapsSwitch, but before that we have to do the next thing: In the folder installOnPhone there’s a file named trkdriver.ldd, copy that file to c:sysbin . After that install CapsSwitch_v1.03.sis and done!! when you want to access to the protected files only open the application CapsSwitch and click on “Switch” it will appear a message in the appliation that says “Caps are switched OFF”.

Now we want to access to protected files. To do that we can use Swiss Manager Pro or Xplore, but i use Swiss Manager Pro. When you unlock the protected files you can edit or even delete the files on C drive so be careful, but if you have some experience you can do many things like modify the icons, check my phone:

CapturIt5 CapturIt4

Is soo cool XD.

Well jon, the protected folders are various, like c:sys, c:private or Z drive, for the most of mods like WALKMAN or icons mod you have to access to those protected folders.

Thanks for the tutorial and also the files. I had successfully open the c drive of my P1i and installed walkman v3.0.

But i still a bit dissapointed with walkman 3.0 bcoz we can’t select a certain folder / files (as in winamp).

Do u have any trick how to do it? Or is there any quick way to give the details to media files? i usually do it through winamp, one by one for each file (not my favourite thing).

    Then it works fine!!
