The memory management is a very complicated topic when we are talking about phones like P990i, W950i, M600i and so on (P1i has a loot of RAM memory so this isn’t a problem but also check this if you have one of these) so we have in the need of have some kind of RAM memory manager to do this task because sometimes the default Task Manager of the phone is very limited in some features.

First of all, i want to apologize with you because this isn’t a new or application abuot Symbian but is very important to me. I’m from El Salvador and i like to develop software, web sites or blogging (just look UIQ XD ) and right now i’m studying Sistem Engineering in the University. Well, the thing is that i’m on a group of 5 friends because we are in the Imagine Cup tournament where the people participates in a bunch of categories about Microsoft technologies.
Well, the thing is that we are in the category Software design and whe have won in our country El Salvador, that’s very important to us because we can demonstrate that we can do something difficult, and in may we have to present our project finished to fight against the other groups of Central America and the Caribbean Islands and if we win, we are going to France for try to win the first place.
That’s very important to me and to my buddies because that help os to learn something more, to get a good job in a future and a lot of things. I recommend you that if you like to develop software or design interfaces, resolve problems or something like that, you can register in www.imaginecup.com and try, probably you win the first place in some category.
There’s my team group, from left to right: Christian Campos, me (looking for something in the sky XD ), Benjamin Zepeda, Fernando Herrera, Ana García (the girlfriend of Williams Molina) and Williams Molina, the Team Leader.
This is a little bit out of theme but is pretty cool and geek. Recently i read a post of a blog about SEO, web development and things like that, the blog is www.anieto2k.com , very good. The owner of this blog is Andres Nieto, and he recently bought a 8Gb Nokia N95 and he comment that the phone has a QR code reader, using the camera as a scanner.
Then he wrote a post about the QR code, a variant of the bar code, and he give us a bunch of QR code online generator, QR code online reader and so on, and i tought “Why don’t create a QR code of the site?” and woala, ther’s the official QR code of http://aeblogs.com/uiq !!
If you want to have a hiperlink of us on your blog/website you could use the QR code of the blog, it look very geek and cool, there’s the code if you want to:

This is the QR code if you only want to see it.

From the wonderful Symbian software company Lonely Cat Games, a cool file manager like the default manager of your phone. It has wide range functions on the phone file system, and it has a shareware version with a limited range of functions.

A simple UIQ application but very interesting. With Process info you can see all the processes of your phone like if you are seeing your computer process, also you can view all the threads of your phone and the tasks like Swiss Manager Pro but more simple.
Do you need to carry a paper or something like that with your critical data like credit card numbers, passwords or the suitcase password because is a problem to you to remember all those things? First of all, that’s not very recommendable because you can lose that and your confidential info and money could be stealed.
Then, you question yourself: ¿How can i do for have all my data in a secure place? Answer: In your phone!!! With Handy Safe you can save your information related to:
- Bank account
- Your computer
- Suitcase
- VISA or another credit card
When you start the application, you set a password, then you can save your credit card numbers, passwords, things like that, and the next time that you open the application you’ll be asked for the password that you setted the first time. Is very cool, try it.
Look while i’m saving my private info (that sounds weird ah? Showing my private info?)

Very simple, an application that enables you to make printscreens of you phone screen. The image is saved in .bmp format, and you can choose the disk (memory card or phone memory) where you want to save the image, press the button and it starts a 30 seconds counter, when the counter finishes, the printscreen is done.
Look it.

Download it free:

Sometimes i open the messenger in my phone, and then the media player, and the RRS feed lector, and so on, and wen i want to finish those applications, i need to open the task manager, but sometimes i want to terminate all applications to liberate memory and be ready to open another program, but it implicates open the task manager and click into finish for each and sometimes (i don’t know if is my phone or the task manager) when i finish an applicacion it still appears like it’s open!!! I needed something more sophisticated, with more funcionality than the default task manager, and i found the Swiss manager Pro, a task manager with esteroids, with SMP (Swiss Manager Pro) you can view all the procceses running on your phone (see the images) and finish whatever you want, even the system processes (not recommendable).
That is a part. It has a file explorer where you can view the system folders&files and do the basic tasks like copy, paste, cut and delete; and in the last part you can see information about your phone like the IMEI, Ram free, CPU Speed and so on. A very good detail is the small indicator on screen when you minimize the SMP where you can view the hour and a bar that indicates the use of ram memory. It’s very good and this is the full version, it has the s3rial numb3r inside the zip file. Enjoy it!!

After 3 hours navigating on internet, searching for protection for my phone against viruses (not so neccesary because Symbian UIQ3 plattform because there is no many viruses for it), more exactly, i was looking for an antivirus, i only find some but the problem is that they aren’t free or i can’t find a cr4ck for it. But when i was looking for i find an article talking about AVG Mobile Antivirus Beta, but to get this antivirus i had to register in the beta testers program from AVG, but now that i have th installer you can download it from the link at the final of the post.
After use it, i can say that is very good, it has good funcionality, when you start it, it scans both memories (if you have a memory card) and then it gives an report, in the main menu you have options like scan files, scan a disk (a memory, the phone memory or the memory stick), also you can set the configuration, being able to modify things like the behavior of the antivirus against files or viruses, set an specific hour to scan, auto update, and so on. Is very good, test you and tell me what do you think about it. And also if you want to de part of the software beta testers you can suscribe to the official site, is the next:
